The Congenital Heart Defects Families Association grew from humble yearnings to raise awareness of CHD's in the Kansas City Area. In 2002, we participated in our first heart walk. We had about 20 walkers and a booth to display a CHD Awareness Quilt and information. We raised around $1000. In 2003, we had close to 50 walkers and raised $6000 dollars. With the obvious need for family support, we officially became a not for profit organization to support families in the Kansas City Area in the summer of 2003. In 2004 we had a picnic to kickoff our heart walk team. We had more than 50 walkers at the heartwalk. In 2005 our heartwalk team grew to over 80 walkers and we raised over $12,000 dollars. In 2008 we had 400 walkers and raised more the $32,000 dollars.  In 2009, we had 400 walkers and raised almost $50,000.  In 2010, we had about 300 walkers and raised almost $40,000

Congenital Heart Defect Families distributes information packets and blankets to children who are having heart surgery at Children's Mercy Hospital. We have three online support groups and a face to face support group that meets every other month. To join, see below.
